Shannara is a great adventure game made for PC. I first played it in Chinese years ago. I remember it as being quite hard, as opposed to what most people say about it. It was probably because I was young. But regardless, after the first time, the game became easy and only took a few hours to complete. Still, there was something about Shannara that kept making me wanting to play it again. I suppose it was the graphics, which were surprisingly good for the day.

Also, it had a rather intriguing plotline for a younger child.
The game is primarily an adventure game. Some would call it RPG, but although it has a battle system, it is very primitive. The user has little control
over the characters, not to mention that battles are mostly easily won, or otherwise avoided. Still, I recall having quite a bit of fun hacking away at the monsters. Besides, the focus of the game is on the adventure, not the battles, which I find sometimes overdone in RPG games.
The focus of the game lays primarily solving puzzles and continuing the plot. This is for the most part quite interesting, except for the occasional areas that became very frustrating. The plot was quite predictable, though still interesting. One thing that I particularly enjoyed about the game was that the programmer or the script writer had a good sense of humour. If the user has a creative mind and can come up with some rather unusual, sometimes even perverted commands, they are bound to get a similar response from the game. There were also certain puzzles in the game which I found quite cleverly put together. These puzzles often involved multiple steps to solve, and sometimes have a nice twist to them. However, sometimes the game focuses too much on one event to move the plot, and it takes the user a long time to figure out what exactly it is the programmer wants you to do. Still, this adds a nice challenge to the otherwise too easy game.
Overall I enjoyed this game very much, and actually found that it has some replay value. But perhaps that's just me. I would definitely recommend this game for people who are looking for something to pass time with, as it is quite entertaining. I give this game two thumbs up.
