Simon the Sorcerer

Genre: Adventure    |     Year: 1993    |     Publisher: Infocom    |     Developer: Adventuresoft Ltd
Game Review (written by Chrissi) Added on: 01/27/2008
Adventure Soft designed an astounding series of point and click adventures where you will take on the role of an unwilling hero. This game would happen to be Simon the Sorcerer that was the beginning of the series. When the game first came out it was said to be quite similar to the Monkey Island series with how the humour and style has been formed.
Your character happens to be Simon the Sorcerer. He is a teenager from Earth who has recently been taken into a new fantasy world become the sorcerer all dressed up into a cloak and pointy hat.
You will be required to utilize logic and the several magical skills to further yourself along in the game by solving various puzzles that have been sporadically placed throughout the fantasy world.
The character Simon can be a bit of a rude with all the insults he has towards everyone that he encounters. This may put a bit of a damper on your adventure because you will have a hard time getting assistances from the people you pass by. The comments alone made the age rating of this game go higher than the game itself.
Your whole goal of the game is to rescue a wizard known as Calypso from this sorcerer Sordid who is quite evil. This is your main

task, but you will be required to solve many puzzles to actually get to him. This will take a large amount of time to do so, so prepare yourself for a lot of gaming before you complete this game.
There is the inclusion of a thirty-page manual that has compass pictures, which are required to get through the copy protection that has been built in. The manual will also assist in getting through the game even further with more ease.
With Simon the Sorcerer being the beginning of a series it needed to go a little further in detail around the story allowing the players to become amazed by the game. This was accomplished making the upcoming games even more hyped than the original. Take on this amazing adventure with a lot of expectations. You’ll soon be amazed with the comments coming out of this witty teenager’s mouth as you further along. Be prepared to be addicted to Simon the Sorcerer in no time just like all the previous gamers who took on this marvellous adventure. Chris Barrie will surely have you audible enjoying your way through the entire game. A voice that surely fits the game and everything it has to offer the gamers.

Great game. Just as I remembered it when I was a kid on the amiga. I would really recommend this game to anyone who has not played it yet.

I played this game about 15 years ago and can not wait to play it again. Probably the first game I ever enjoyed.
