This game is a masterpiece, even in modern times. I had always wondered if a game of this magnitude could be created, and here today, that question has been answered with a resounding yes. The story takes place 600 years into the future aboard the interstellar vessel the "Starflight", a newly commissioned explorer vessel designated to unravel the mysteries of the "Blue Galaxy". Headed by Commander Grimson J. Field of NEST, the ship makes way towards the "Blue Galaxy" but unfortunately, things go awry quickly.
The ship is assaulted by strange chaos clouds that disrupt the flightpath and controls of the ship. During this part of the game I was severely unimpressed, it all seemed silly and predictable, but as time went on I realized that this game was a magical adventure that weighed heavily on the imaginations of both kids and adults. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the "Viper Pedals"(One of the first enemies in the game), it seemed so strange that I didn't think it would work, but it did! The developers over at Squarehead Sillypants, have really, in my opinion, changed the face of gaming forever. I'm not gonna reveal TOO much of what happens, but I'm gonna give the ol' scores.
Graphics:
Simply amazing for it's time. It's easy to see that many of today’s great games have been inspired by "Starflight 2", such as Halo, and Gears of War. There is bloodshed, but it's very appropriate, and not overblown, which makes the game more real in some cases. Overall the beauty of the environments and creatures will leave you just standing there in awe.
Plot: As I've already said, the game is imaginative. If you're looking for a serious story with realistic outcomes, then stay away. This game takes you to a world of pure imagination. It's all about what you make of it, since this is one of the first games to have RPG elements. The game itself sports 11 completely different endings, giving it good replay value.
Gameplay: This game has it all, Space battles, on-land skirmishes, close quarters combat. The world itself is rich with books and clues that could take hours to read, but will drag you back for more. The gameplay is fast and fluid, and there's never a dull moment.
Overall Score:9.4
