The Orion Conspiracy

Game Review (written by Shannon) Added on: 11/30/2007
The Orion Conspiracy is a point and click adventure style of game that was released in the middle nineties by Domark Software Inc. It is a graphic adventure with adult themes.
The premise of The Orion Conspiracy sees the user as the protagonist Devlin McCormack, who is investigating the death of his only son, Danny in the year 2160. At his memorial, Devlin received an anonymous note revealing the fact that Danny was murdered, forcing Devlin to begin wandering about the Cerberus Space Station to seek clues leading to his killer.
The game follows a fairly linear plot from that point forward.
Although the plot of the Orion Conspiracy is linear, it still leads the user into some interesting, if not offensive, situations. The potential user should be warned that there is an inordinate amount of profanity throughout the game, especially in the later portions. Another note is that, as the plot unfolds, Devlin McCormack learns that his son was having a homosexual affair with a man on the space station. None of the topics presented are remotely politically correct. Some adults may find humour in the presentation, but most will likely be offended. Obviously, these themes may not be suited for kids.
The actual game play of the Orion Conspiracy is mediocre. The puzzles are

challenging enough, but there are not very many of them, and as mentioned before, the plot is very linear with no open ends or extra possibilities. The user interface is very easy to manipulate, bearing a standard point and click style of play. The graphics are mundane and normal for games of this year and the cut scenes are uninteresting and poorly animated. The user can only be rescued by the escape button for one of them, and must sit through the others. The voice acting is also weak and unenthusiastic.
In short, if anything good is to be said about the Orion Conspiracy, the user should look to the puzzles. They really aren’t all that bad, and most are fairly logical. The story itself is also interesting, if it weren’t belabored by strings of expletives and inappropriate references at every turn. At any case, a potential downloader must remember that this is definitely intended for a mature audience.
