Veil of Darkness is a very nice adventure game. The graphics are not the best they could be, but the story is so good, that you forget all about graphics as you play the game.
You are a young Pilot, whose airplane crashes (the cause for this crash is an evil vampire) in a little village. The village is part of a valley. People, who live in this valley don’t have any contact with the rest of the world.
The reason, that valley is disconnected from the rest of the world, is that it has been cursed by the evil vampire.
Your final goal is to kill the vampire and free the valley. But in order to do this, there are some intermediate tasks which you must finish. These tasks are known beforehand, as they are listed in a piece of paper, which contains a prophecy. The prophecy lists says about the person, who will save the valley. This person is you!
This first part of the game seems obscure, but when the game environment becomes familiar to the player, he cannot do anything else, but play! First thing to do is to find a hammer and give it to a man named Kiril. Kiril also has a daughter, which, at the end of the game, is shown with you in a romantic setting.
As you talk to people
in the game, new locations will start appearing in you map. These locations include another village, a graveyard, the Vampire's caste, a maze, the dark forest, the place where your plane crashed, a monastery, a cave, a mad man's house, a camp occupied by gypsies.
Different opponents require different weapons. Vampires can be killed only by holy water, zombies only by a blessed silver sword and so on.
A general good advice which applies to this game is to try to see, if things adjacent to walls, can move. In many occasions you will see things, such as catacombs, the vampire's coffin or even murdered people!
During the game player should collect all possible items, shovels, guitars that is no matter how silly something may look, it might prove of great value, as even if it not of any value to you, somebody else might ask for it. Plants have great value to you, as they can heal you when you have been poisoned, or increase your life bar.
Overall, Veil of Darkness is a very good game that will keep the player very happy!
