Published by Infocom in 1988, this game was the last installment in the series of Zork games and served as a prequel to the series. The eight other games that came before Zork Zero are Zork I, Zork II, Enchanter, Sorcerer, Wishbringer, Spellbreaker, and Beyond Zork. Zork Zero was actually the perfect game to end the series because it was well made and really tied the series together pretty well.
In the Zork Zero, also known as the Revenge of Megaboz, the Lord Dimwit along with the rest of the Royal family has been put under a spell by Megaboz the Magnificent.
A counter-curse has been made to delay the effects of Megaboz destructive curse on the whole kingdom.
As Curse Day (the anniversary of Lord Dimwit’s death) approaches 94 years later, the effects of the counter curse is about to completely fade. It is now up to you to save the whole Kingdom.
To save the entire Kingdom you must search for twenty four items all previously belonging to the Lord Dimwit and to his eleven siblings. These items must be placed in a cauldron after which the magic word must be uttered. Aside from searching for all the 24 items, you must also find out what the magic word is.
You have to travel the whole empire, solve puzzles and play Double Fanucci to successfully complete the game. The game is a humorous
adventure game that involves, magic, action and puzzle-solving.
Zork Zero actually features the best graphics among the Zork game series. The game features a screen where the instructions for the gamer are given. The game play is pretty easy to learn. Those who have played other Zork games are familiar with the game play. You just need to type in the commands for your character. You can also use function keys for the game.
Overall the game is a huge game with many interesting sub-games incorporated in it so it’s impossible for anyone to become bored with this game. It’s extremely enjoyable with good sounds and graphics and a good mix of game play that will keep you interested for a long time.
If you have played the other Zork games and enjoyed them then I suggest you download Zork Zero too. It will provide you the same level of entertainment as the other Zork games. This game is a real treat for all Zork and even non-Zork fans.
