Most games of the 80's are nothing the same as today. Today’s games revolve around graphics and sound, but game play gets to the point where cheat codes are needed. Games of the past revolved around entertainment and were simple and fun.
I personally have been trying for the past 20 years looking for games of the past that I can play on a PC of today. The games of the past strength were in its Imagination and today they are based on reality.
I dare any Game Maker to revive past games ready to play on modern PC's, They should do a pilot trial with a few of the popular ones and they will most likely find that those that have played as long as I have are craving for the old and not the new.
Games like Mario Bros was fun even though it seemed repetitive, you always had to look for hidden features. You always new they were there but where were they. Airborne Ranger was and is a great game and of the top 5 in my book. I was in the Army when I was playing Airborne Ranger. It wasn’t like being in the Army but it did give
me some fun to play it in a cartoon like atmosphere. You would run, walk and crawl and see the game from mostly an offset overhead view. You have a riffle, pistol and grenades. You have to make it through mine fields and use cover to hide behind. The best way to play is to simply play. We all need a simple non lethal means of venting.
Airborne Ranger as well as a lot of others did not have real life gore and blood, this game and others had no links in the media to be associated with any teens and violence. This game should be revived for game play and today’s games should be made as training tools for the military. The graphics and sound affects are simple and not demanding on your system, you will not need a high end system in order to play a game you like and that can pass time in a harmless way.
