Game Review (written by Shannon) Added on: 02/15/2008
Actress Sigourney Weaver starred in a series of movies with the Alien title. The movies were quite popular and they sparked many marketing ploys, such as lunch boxes, trading cards, T-shirts, and of course, video games. Alien Breed Tower Assault is the third game in a trilogy inspired by the hit movies. It is the final game in the series that was made in only two dimensions and it plays out entirely from the top down point of view. Alien Breed Tower Assault was both developed and published by Team 17, and came out in the middle nineties to reflect the latest in the movies.

The story of this installment of the
Alien Breed Tower AssaultAlien Breed Tower AssaultAlien Breed Tower Assault
series begins when a Science Facility issues a vague distress call to the Deep Space Barracks. The facility is the only life on the void that is the planet, and the soldiers do not anticipate much trouble. Finding and dispatching of the miniscule threat should be no real problem. What the soldiers did not expect was an attack from the Facility itself. As the X-Wing fighters approach, they are fired upon by the Facility’s own armed laser defense system, and the pilots find themselves being individually picked out of the sky as they approach to complete the rescue mission. Only two of the pilots are able to safely crash land and survive the lasers: Nash and Jordan, who find themselves on the outer perimeter of the facility.
The gamer will select between the two surviving pilots. The pilot will have to maneuver through multiple levels and follow a non-linear plot line with open endings at every turn. Most of the levels have a variety of exits that funnel into different territories. Regardless of the route the user takes to get there, the pilot will have to infiltrate the facility by killing off all the aliens he meets on the way. He will pick up bonuses in the form of more ammunition and keys that will get the user out of different levels and into new ones. The user will also be able to pick up money in the form of credits, which can be used to upload various weapons upgrades at computers that the user will encounter from time to time in the levels.
Alien Breed Tower Assault sees most of the action within the towers of the facility, and is a very solid shooter. It is a great addition to the stable of Alien games and the user should be satisfied with this download.
