Game Review (written by Atrias) Added on: 02/05/2008
Alien Rampage is an awesome game. I remember playing this game several years ago when I found it on a shareware cd bundle that my parents bought for me. Alien Rampage is a side scrolling action, blow ‘em up, blood and guts game. When you blow up a creature about your size and it sends a fountain of blood and entrails everywhere, yeah, it’s gory and not a game for young kids. This is definitely a game for the 18 and older crowd. Even though I haven’t come across any alcohol reference, obscene language or nudity, Alien rampage has the blood and gore factor to make up for the lack of the other items.

I believe a mature rating would be appropriate here.
The graphics

of Alien Rampage are great for its age, the colors and semi-3D looking characters and scenery are very well designed and so are the explosions from barrels and crates. The gameplay is unique in a few different ways. One of the main ways that stood out to me is there is no counter for lives, instead you get coins. You use these coins to buy different ammo for your rifle, and also for your life counter aside form your health meter. When your health meter empties, you respawn at your last checkpoint or at the beginning of the level and lose an amount of coins. If you have no coins left, then it is game over. Another fun about Alien Rampage is the problem solving you have to overcome. Such as using your mind to think of what you can use to get up to that cursed next platform!
Like most side scrolling action games Alien Rampage is pretty linear, moving from one level to the next following the story live. The storyline is, you’re just a stranded alien trying to put your ship back together, with a big gun, a bad temper, an itchy trigger finger and lots of stuff to blow up.
Alien rampage is a great game for anyone looking for some fast action with lots of carnage. The ability to save your progress at the end of each level makes things a lot easier so you do not have to play through the whole game in one sitting, but you do have to reach the end of the level first. All in all alien rampage is a fun little action/arcade game with a mediocre storyline and a lot of weapons to splatter a lot of baddies. Did I mention blood and guts?
