Game Review (written by Sammyd29) Added on: 12/30/2006
Bad dudes is such a wicked game. I mean I really loved double dragon growing up, and the whole 'two players against the world' ideal it awesome. Bad dudes has the same game style and feel as double dragon, the weapons are different, but the variety of enemies and foes, random bosses at checkpoint-like stoppages in the game, and fighting styles are the same.
The story line is similar, in that the objective of the game, in the end, is to get the girl.
I could play this game for hours and not get tired of it, because each time you play it there are different ways to approach foes, and different attack tactics. You could kill an enemy with your hands and feet one time through the game, then the next time, take him out with any one of the weapons found throughout the game.
The 2 player aspect of the game is one that I don't normally take advantage of, because I am a solo gamer for the most part. The levels get progressively more difficult, as most games do. So an experienced game player can fly through the first few levels with little difficulty, with the middle portion of the game getting more difficult

as you go along.
It shouldn't take a first time player very long to get a handle on the simple controls and to quickly go about turning moves into combos, like jump kicks, throws, and so on. I was able to beat the game after a while of learning the moves, which foes did what when fighting them, which weapons were most effective, and at what point in battles were they most effective.
I absolutely enjoyed this game growing up, now it seems dodgy, with mediocre graphics, but at the time they were absolutely amazing. I still find myself getting lost in the plot of the game while I am playing it, as it draws you in, similarly to the afore mentioned double dragon. Bad dudes is a game that if I were ebert and roeper, I would give two thumbs up, but only because I am partial to old school games that have a fun plot and that have the ability to engage the game player for hours on end. I literally played this game from start to finish once without standing up, but it seemed as though I was only sitting there for a matter of minutes, that is just how enthralled with the game I got.
