Game Review (written by Skuzzdog) Added on: 08/31/2009
Barbarian is one of the best beat 'em ups available of the old C64.
Barbarian came with guts, gore and humor - where else can you find a way to decapitate a fellow Conan-esque swordsman and then have a green gremlin looking creature kick your opponents head across the arena?
You can spin your sword like a ninja, kick your opponent in the goolies, chop his head in half, high, mid & low slash, roll away from a severing blow, block, duck, jump and of course perform an heroic spinning head chop, which well timed saw your opponent's head fly off in the distance.
And the music! An inspiring soundtrack worthy of Dino DeLaurentis backed up by all the grunts, thuds and clangs you would expect in a sword swinging epic!

(04/11/2009) what a fantastic blast from the past this game is, had forgotten all about this game until I spotted it on this website, many endless evenings and weekends were lost in the 80's playing this. used to swap between emlyn hughes international soccer, followed by renegade and kung fu masters, but as soon as we had the urge for some violent axe weilding violence this game was soon loaded back in. If i remeber rightly there was some bird (female) fighter that not only did we have pre-pubity feelings for butr also managed to struggle but just beat to progress to further rounds, I also remember very crap backgrounds and scenery which did distract from the game a little.
