Commander Keen 6: Aliens Ate My Babysitter is very similar to the other games in the series. The story is pretty good like the rest of the stories in the series and it has the original character Billy Blaze (kid genius) as the main character.
The story begins when Billy's babysitter gets kidnapped by his arch nemesis. She gets taken to Fribilus Xax, their home planet. As for the game play, it's similar to 4 and 5. Meaning, very easy to learn. But it’s the difficulty of the game that makes it a little tricky at some points.
The game graphics look very similar to the ones in game 4 and 5. Still cartoony and very lively and awesome I might add (especially since the game is limited to a certain amount of colors). And the music, lets talk about catchy! It can be a bit corny at times, but it goes well with the game.
Like the other games the story takes you to different cartoon settings where you are introduced to new enemies and bosses. The new enemies in the game are the elements that make the game tricky (they aren’t nature or robots like the other series. They’re mostly aliens in this one). You find yourself looking for ways to attack them and when you can get a certain opening.
The levels are wonderfully diverse, from plants in the clouds to traveling in a spaceship.
You see familiar items in the game that can give you points which adds an old feel to the Commander Keen 6. There are even items that you must find so you'll be able to move on to the next level. It’s fun to enter into secret passages that you can barely see on the screen. The backgrounds are slightly slanted so the passage ways are hidden.
But it all makes it worth while when you see how many different levels the game actually has. You also have (of course) different weapons that accompany you through the journey. One being a pogo stick and a neural stunner (which causes the enemy to be paralysis for a brief period of time). He can also jump from floor to floor.
Overall the game was great and gorgeous for what it is; the only problem I had with it was its originality. At points it seemed like I was playing the some earlier games in the series. But even though that’s one of the little problems, it’s clearly the best in the series.
