Game Review 1 (written by Lonewolf007) Added on: 03/26/2007
While the game itself wasn't the greatest, it still had its "fear / frag flare" to it. Now true even though the graphics weren't the best, it was still a fun game to play, mostly for passing time. But unfortunately it had too much of a "Doom" look / feel for me. When I first played it I was hoping for a good challenge, but only found another First Person shooter with AI that could use a Human Brain instead of a computers.
But as I stated before, the replay value to me was its saving grace. If your looking for a game to pass the time or want a taste of the past with out playing doom. Try Daikatana.
The story line unfortunately, from what I can remember, sucked. Personally I would have chosen an unused storyline, instead of the same "It’s up to YOU, to save the world / Galaxy" scenario. They are used way to much and a fresh or twist on that story would in my opinion made the game more tolerable.
But remember that this game was like Doom and Wolfenstien 3d, both great games, and I think that with Daikatana, if a little bit more time and better technology could

of been applied to it, this would of been a great game for everyone. Though the game play was too much like Unreal, while Unreal remains a great game even today, Daikatana just seemed like it had copied off of previous games, compacted all the content into one game and tried to pass it off as being unique.

Game Review 2 (written by Negolittin) Added on: 03/15/2007
Daikatana is a first person 'shooter' style game that incorporates some pretty cool things that are rarely found in games of the genre. While the graphics may entice you, game play is also good! Within the first five minutes of this game, the player discovers the almost infuriating learning curve. Not only will you be continually irritated by mind numbingly bland plot and uncreative dialogue, but there is little to be done in the way of avoiding it. Daikatana is meant to be a plot-driven story.
The protagonist has several attributes such as rate of fire, jump height, and so on. Like most RPGs, you gain skill points by painstakingly killing enemies. Horde after horde of enemies offer only minimal experience points, and on top of that, even at the highest skill levels, they appear pointless. The skills make very little difference in game play.
Luckily, Daikatana comes through with some pretty decent graphics. Things do not look terrible by standards at time of release. However, throughout the entire game, I felt the vague reminiscence of those long nights playing Half-life.
Daikatana also delivers an interesting arsenal of weapons that pretty much any gamer will find amusing. Personally, I adore the claw, but I shall say no more as to not ruin things.
It’s great and interesting game! Daikatana is certainly worth your time, if you're willing to overlook poor plot, and serious glitches with companions. You’ll be satisfied!

I picked up a copy of this on sale after it came out and was poorly reviewed. It was worth the the low price for the length of the game, it's graphics at that time, and some of the humorous dialogue of the AI's, when they were working properly. As other's have mentioned, this game is good for passing the time. The multi-player action was pretty good for the time, with some unique weapons.

It's a good game to pass the time. Lots of gore and carnage which is a + in my book. Tons of people say it's a bad game but it was interesting and a fun play.

Everybody thinks this game is bad because of all the bad press, but try and you'll see that it is really a good game. Beautiful levels, especially the latter 3/4, great background music, really fun weapons. Great if you like to run and gun in beautiful, mysterious worlds.
