Ok, I will start out by saying that I’m remembering all of this from memory. Dark Vengeance was experienced by me when I was 7 or 8 years old, but I remember getting the choice to play one of 3 VERY different characters.
One was the brutish warrior, the second was the silent thief/assassin type, and the 3rd was a mage type character with a ranged attack. I played the first level, since it was a demo(I did later get the full game) and I was hooked.

One was the brutish warrior, the second was the silent thief/assassin type, and the 3rd was a mage type character with a ranged attack. I played the first level, since it was a demo(I did later get the full game) and I was hooked. Each of the 3 characters 1st level was different, but the second one was the same no matter which one you played. It had good graphics (for the time) and very good action and gameplay.
It ran very smoothly, even on an imac. The music was very good, I loved it. The full game rocked. All the levels were very well done, it was fun, and it was hard enough to be a significant challenge, but it wasn't hard enough to make me break the mouse or keyboard or something. The controls were very easy to pick up, and combat was very involved, having to block, attack, learning when to counterattack, and of course some combat techniques.
The 3 characters all play very differently. The strong warrior was, of course, up close and personal IN-YO-FACE! combat. He can take the most damage, and is the best for those not too good at dodging ranged attacks. The assassin is female, and she plays like the barbarian, but is faster and much better at dodging and is good at close range attacking. She can't take as much punishment, but is good for players that need a fast character and are good at dodging. The final character is a blind mage character. He has the ranged attack, but can take nowhere near as much damage as either of the other 2 characters. He’s fast, and good for players that aren’t good at up close and personal combat. He does have a pretty good attack, doing decent damage, and since he's attacking from a range, he can dodge easily, and even take out enemies before you aggro them, saving you a lot of trouble.
All in all, this game is very good. I enjoyed, and any fan of hack and slash puzzle games is sure to be pleased. It has it all, good graphics, audio, and gameplay, all in all, ten out of ten.
