Game Review (written by Pizzamandhx) Added on: 12/26/2006
Hold on to your super suits boys and girls, this is going to be a bumpy ride! Prepare yourselves for the most outrageous, hilarious, death defying trip through outer space to rescue the princess waiting for you at the end.
You are Earthworm Jim, the unlikely hero of this story who, while one day peacefully eating dirt, a super suit of unimaginable power literally falls out of the sky on top of you. Climbing inside, you suddenly attain powers that you had never before dreamed of (like opposable thumbs).
But like every superhero, with great power comes great responsibility. The benevolent Princess what’s-Her-Face has been kidnapped by the evil Psy-Crow in a twisted plot by the nefarious Queen Slug-for-a-Butt to rule over the whole universe. It is up to you as the hero of this story, as well as the possessor of the super suit to stop them and rescue the Princess.
You will battle through enormous junkyards, careen through space on your pocket rocket in a race against the treacherous Psy-Crow, navigate a perilous underwater labyrinth, even descend into the depths of the earth to clash with Evil the Cat, ruler of Heck. And all the time, you must deal with Jim’s wisecracks and the hilarious antics of the cast of this epic game.

game appears to have been designed and programmed by a group of comedians. Everything about it screams either overt or inside jokes. For example, in the very first mission of the game, one of the very first tasks that you perform is to trip a board, and in the process launch a cow into orbit; and even this is done almost inadvertently. The cow seems to be lost until later on in the game when it suddenly performs a fly-by on the screen, although this occurs on a level completely submerged by water. The same cow finally reappears after you complete the whole adventure, only to completely squash the lovely Princess What’s-Her-Face after defeating Queen Slug-for-a-Butt. Jim is even animated when the player is completely idle. Wait long enough, and the suit will remove Jim from inside itself and begin to jump rope, or toss his gun high into the air, only to have it fall on top of him later. It is hilarious, yet challenging at the same time.
As a long time player, this game is highly recommended. I have been playing games for fourteen years. I remember well the first video game system I ever owned, the Nintendo Entertainment System. If this bears any weight, this game is for everyone!
