Game Review (written by Jessie321) Added on: 12/02/2006
Everyone knows about this classic arcade game. Although it can't be found in arcades today anymore most likely, it was quite popular back in its day.
The concept is that you have to get a little green frog across the street without getting run over by cars that are driving by. There are various levels that must be completed as well. The concept is rather simple, thus the game can be mastered quite easily. A game session usually doesn't last as long as you might like it to last.
However, a bit of strategy must be used when reaching higher levels. For example, during higher levels the cars speed up or slow down depending on how high a level you're on. Therefore, you must move frogger into one lane at a time. Not only going forward across the street, but moving sideways to get through the maze of traffic. Once you reach the end of the street, the frog comes upon a lake. Various objects are floating by. These objects are logs, turtles and sometimes alligators. What little froggy has to do is jump on the back of these various objects and cross the river. This is easier said than done, however, for the alligators open their mouths and can kill

the frog. The turtles also submerge so you have to be careful where you step. There are also bonus points you can acquire which looks like bugs. Once you have safely crossed the road and the river, you can go into one of the holes at the top of the screen. (I haven't exactly discovered just what they were.) Once inside the holes, your game will either be over or you will go to the next level, depending on which level you are currently on.
Overall, frogger was a rather enjoyable game. In today's day and age, it would be considered rather boring by most. After all, the extent of the action and violence is that the frog blows up when he is hit by the car (or she.) However, many fond memories can be drawn from this classic arcade game. It is the prime of street crossing and the master of joysticks. It brings back memories of bad graphics and sound, but good times. However, because the game sessions aren't long, frogger ends rather abruptly. It is suggested that although this game is a classic, don't waste too much effort trying to acquire it.
