Game Review (written by Jasonorc) Added on: 05/30/2007
Gunstar heroes is a fairly good game. Its graphics are brilliant for its time, and so is its story. You are a man who is on a mission; you have to collect four sacred gems for Professor White, then destroy the evil things created by Master Red.
The first level is quite easy (you must travel through a large town and destroy your foes), the second is probably the easiest though, and here you do little battling, as most of it is a board game.

The first level is quite easy (you must travel through a large town and destroy your foes), the second is probably the easiest though, and here you do little battling, as most of it is a board game. The 3rd level, which I think is the hardest, is to go through a large underground mine, killing everyone on the way, which is easy, but then you must fight the evil Green, who is nearly invincible! And then

level 4 is also fairly easy; you must scale the walls of a giant airplane, and destroy Orange at the top! But then something awful happens: your girlfriend is stolen, and Master Red wants all 4 gems that you have collected in return for releasing her, but you won’t go down without a fight!
The weapons include:
Singles:
A laser gun: a weapon that shoots powerful but small lasers.
Flame gun: a weapon that shoots large amounts of fire, but may harm your friends.
The follower: a small arrow gun that shoots bullets that home onto your enemies
The beamer: a small, shoddy gun that throws little balls at the enemy.
Doubles:
If you mix 2 weapons you are given these:
Super flamer: flame guns, very large amounts of fire that explode when let loose.
Laser flamer: not a very good gun, a weapon that looks like the laser gun, but the lasers are easier to move.
Fire follower: Shoots small beams of fire that follow the enemy, very good weapon!
Fire bombs: if you get the beamer and the fire together, you shoot giant balls that explode into a flame on contact! Brilliant weapon!
Double laser: Fairly similar to the normal lasers, bad weapon.
Laser follower: The best weapon in my opinion, a laser that is continually hitting the enemy - practically invincible!
Laser beamer: fairly useless again, small shots of laser are fired.
Super follower: very good weapon, instead of arrows they are stars, and they also surround you in a star shield if there are enough.
Follower bombs: a line of huge bombs that fly everywhere, and follow enemies, sounds good, but is actually a fairly pointless weapon.
And I have explained all the beamer weapons in the descriptions above, thank you.
