Game Review (written by Markross85) Added on: 01/04/2007
Hard Hat: The Rebellion is based on CAPCOM's Mega Man series and is a 2D platformer/action game. It has great level design and a control formula that has stood the test of time. While the game can be quite challenging, the controls are very responsive so you can really control your character with ease after a few playing sessions. It is a great game with cool characters and a very good mix of action, shooting and platforming.
The controls are quite simple. You jump, shoot and move and your character responds accordingly.

The controls are quite simple. You jump, shoot and move and your character responds accordingly. Compare that to a lot of older games that do not have very responsive controls and render the game more frustrating than enjoyable. This game has no such problem, so if you fail you

will know it is something you did and not because of game response complications. Hard Hat: The Rebellion is an enjoyable experience from start to finish, and will leave you feeling very satisfied having participated in a rewarding and challenging video game. Platforming works very well as level design is solid and fun, you can tell some thought was put behind it. It works as a great combination with its action and shooting elements.
You may think that this game is only for little kids, but that would be the wrong assumption. The game can become difficult for older gamers and younger gamers alike. For older gamers, you will find yourself being challenged to complete the game without many miscues, while younger gamers will enjoy the simplistic design of the game but also the challenge and rewarding sensation of completing it. I remember back when I was young and playing Mega Man with cousins and friends alike, and we always tried to beat our previous time by completing levels faster than whoever played before us. This game is no different and you will find yourself wanting to replay the game just to beat your previous best times.
Overall, Hard Hat: The Rebellion offers an enjoyable and mildly challenging video gaming experience that a wide variety of gamers will enjoy. In a time with extremely complicated video games with several different and confusing game inputs (for example, controllers with 10 buttons) it is refreshing to play and enjoy a game that uses its easy-to-understand game-play as strength.
