Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was one of the first movies that I really got hooked on as a kid. I'd watch it every time I could catch it on TV no matter how recently I had seen it. When I found a local arcade with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom there I scavenged around for quarters non-stop to feed my addiction, then when I found out I could play it at home my days of going outside were over.

The graphics of the game aren't bad, I remember thinking they were just plain awesome when I would play it back in the day, but looking at it now, you can tell how dated it is... Probably even feel a bit old!
Now with the new Indiana Jones movie coming out and all the hype surrounding that, I can't think of a better way to get into the "Indy Groove" than to revisit a childhood favourite like this one. The game can be a bit challenging but you don't have to be a rocket scientist or a pro-gamer to run around freeing kids and collecting artefacts, and lets face it, its still pretty cool to beat up on crudely animated snakes with a crudely animated

whip.
So download this classic, play through it and feel that nostalgia from your childhood all over again before you run out to see the new Indy movie, this one should get you in the mood. And if you're from the generation that grew up with Indiana Jones, admit it... you're REALLY only going to watch the new one for nostalgia's sake anyway.
As far as the gameplay itself goes you can count on varied gameplay experience throughout the levels. That is to say, its not another Super Mario brothers in which you jump on the same turtles and mushrooms and then slide down the pole level after monotonous level until you're sick of nostalgia.
The thing that I think you'll enjoy most is that it’s like a movie!! I can't really think of another game off hand that does it like this one. You go through the underground mine and then on to a really cool chase sequence in a mine cart, it'll have you on the edge of your seat for the young and the not so young alike. I don't think I ever made it past there as a kid come to think of it.
Anyway, its totally worth the download, I couldn't believe it when I found this one on the list! Get the game and play it, and I challenge you to make it through the game without thinking "Maybe I should go out and rent the temple of doom movie too."

Game Review 2 (written by Ericlyonsdog) Added on: 03/28/2007
Unlike many games that are made about movies, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is true to the story of the film. The gameplay reenacts the scenes through the movie, the characters look decent for the time period it was made in, and the theme of the movie is a decent rendition of the movie's theme. Also, the game has sound clips of characters in the movie. For example, when your character, Indy, gets killed, you hear the Mola Ram scream that Kali will rule the world. The rendition of Indy is probably the most remarkable thing in the game. Indy has all of his normal effects, along with a torn shirt sleeve that he donned only in this game. This shows that the programmers paid much attention to the movie, which is a good thing.
There are three levels in the game and they start with the darkest part of the movie. It doesn’t begin in Shanghai like the movie, but, instead, begins inside the children’s mines: the first level. The other two levels are the mine carts and the actual temple to Kali. Throughout gameplay, you dodge snakes, bats, and spikes while battling Thuggee and finally the Mola Ram. You climb on ladders like you do in the Last Crusade, and you go onto conveyor belts of a sort along with bridges and, of course, mine carts.
This game is worth a download, if you are an Indy fan. Enjoy!
