This is one of my all time favourite arcade games. We got our first computer in when I was eight. It was a Gateway and in the games package that came with it, was Jezzball. I would sit at the computer and see how small of a box I could make around a single bouncing ball. For those of you who do not know the premise of the game it is a simple game that is played as follows.
You begin the game with a designated number of lives, if memory serves me right it is around 3 lives.
The object of the game is very easy to understand, get the balls into small spaces. These spaces need to be approximately 30% of the total area that you began with. In order to accomplish that task, with your mouse, you click on the playing field to send bars in either direction. When those bars hit the sides, they form a solid line, creating a barrier that the ball will bounce off of. You can send the bars either horizontally or vertically, you right click to change the direction of the bars.
The key to the game in my personal opinion is to separate the individual balls as much as possible. It is much easier to create small spaces around a single ball
as apposed to multiple balls because the timing is extremely difficult. Another trick is to purposely allow one side of your bar to be hit while the other side forms a barrier; it makes it easier to trap balls. I think there are like fifty levels or something but I do not remember ever getting past like the fifth level because by that time there were so many balls that it was nearly impossible to time it correctly. It was always fun to try to see if I could get one all the way across on those tougher levels though.
For those of you looking for other great logic games similar to Jezzball, I would definitely recommend Jewel Chase. It also come in that game package and I loved trying to too collect as many jewels as possible and still beat the little flashing guy to the end. Either one of these two games would be a joy to play at any given time, the uncertainty of how the ball is going to bounce or if you can beat the guy to the end never dulls, even after you have played it a hundred times.
