Game Review (written by Jgarn11) Added on: 01/23/2007
This game, Karateka is tons of fun! If you’re interested in an adventure game or karate, you will love it. The whole purpose of the game is to wind your way through the castle and defeat akumo to save the princess. There is no way of saving your game, so you must master the skill levels. As you defeat each enemy on your way to success, you have only one life. Although this is disheartening to many, it only strengthens your ability to become immensely involved in the game.
Each time you face off with an enemy, it is like a new adventure. Whether you are using a joy stick or computer keys (joystick is always most definitely preferred) you have about three punches or kicks towards your enemy.
As you or your enemy is hit or kicked, you or the enemy will loose health points. These points are what track your life and ability to stay in the game. As soon as you defeat an enemy with three kicks or punched, you move on to the next part of your adventure and your next foe. There are two surprise enemies through the game. One of them is when your enemy is the infamous akumas eagle. This enemy takes

much strategy to overcome as he can fly and dive to attack. Another one of the important enemies that lies ahead, is none other than a gate. I know this might be hard to understand but many players have trouble passing the gate. Instead of just walking through the barb wired spiky gate, the player must run across it without worrying about his health points. If there is a way to pass with out getting hurt, I have no idea how to.
This game is full of these interesting surprises and attribute to the games atmosphere. The music is another attribute that adds directly to the animosity of the game. As the game gets close to end, tech music acts almost as an Alford Hitchcock film by igniting the fury and revving up the climax. Finally to get us to the finale. When our hero is finally ready to save the princess after defeating the foe, another danger lies ahead. The princess herself! The smart gamer must only approach her at a relaxed state. If he is still in striking mode the princess will attack with one fatal blow, ending the game before anyone can get there! Only you have to try the game for yourself!
