Game Review (written by Billham) Added on: 06/07/2007
A great game created by Studio 3DO. Killing Time was released in Dec 1996. Although, the game lacks a multiplayer function, you will still have a lot of fun playing it. Killing Time is a 3D action shooter where you run around killing everything you see. The game is very well designed and doesn’t lack in the gameplay department. It has tons of action and great graphics for when it came out.
Killing Time is formatted in the first person shooter style which provides a sense of excitement while playing.

gameplay should have you set for the long haul. It manages stand out from the crowd of first-person action games on the market, thanks largely to a thoughtful design interweaving setting and story with healthy doses of gunplay and gore. In this game you play an Egyptologist who is exploring the island of Matinicus, home of the estate of wealthy heiress named Tess Conway.
Killing Time takes place 60 plus years after the disappearance of Tess Conway and several of her close friends. Your Main goal in this game is to find an ancient Egyptian Water Clock that is said to grant eternal life to whoever has it in their possession. But during the course of your adventure you'll begin to unravel secrets that have been locked inside the Conway estate for more than 60 years secrets that will reveal just what happened to Tess and her high-society pals.
At the beginning you will spend some time trying to find ammo and weapons to fend off the ghouls and ghost that come between you and the Water Clock. Lucky for you the pistol is enough to fend off the first wave of zombies you face you will eventually find a lot more ammo though. Even though the enemies are 2D they're rendered excellently, as is the scenery and object graphics. The musical score is very good also building an ominous sense of dread before switching almost seamlessly to a hot jazz music when you enter areas where Conway and friends were cutting the rug and guzzling bathtub gin those many years ago.
It's all a breath of fresh air, and very fun to boot definitely worth the download.

This was one of the first FPS games to really pull me in. Sure I played others before this one, but this game hit upon an era of time that I've always been infatuated with. Also, the ghost-driven plot was really awesome. I totally loved this game, but I definitely preferred the 3DO version over the PC version. The versions are different in some of the levels and the 3DO version was the only one that allowed you to access areas right from the start that you would normally only have encountered about two-thirds into it. Made for a decent challenge, but you had to know where to look. This game is a classic and one of my favourite FPS' of all time.

You should play this game. For such a classic game you get a lot of action. Not half life but for retro fun you aren't far off.
