Krypton Egg really is the Ultimate Breakout Clone. It has some really interesting features and sound effects. The game contains 60 levels of brick-breaking action, and they are numerous different types of Bricks you will encounter. There are Normal Bricks, Spell Bricks, which contain either a good or bad spell, or bricks that take multiple hits to break, or ones that cannot be broken at all.
The powerups in this game are called spells, and they have either a positive or a negative effect on your paddle. There's traditional powerups like Extra Paddles and Expand Paddles.
While there's also really cool ones like the Flying Powerup, which allows you to take the paddle to the skies!
Of course, those are just the good ones. They are bad ones too. They are Knives, which either kill your paddle or take away Shields (if you have one.), Light Dimming, and Force Freeze bad spells.
Another nifty bit of the game is the enemies you will encounter. Approximately every 5-15 seconds an enemy will appear on the breakout field. Some are not lethal to the paddle, while one is. (I'll give you a hint, if it glows, stay away from it! They can all be killed by the ball though).
But just when you think you master the regular levels, you face a swarm of enemies!
Including Knives raining down upon you! It takes great care to survive that. After that, a few more regular levels, then you face, some weird Alien creature in outerspace that breathes fire. The goal is to take him down, but sadly I've failed to defeat it.
Overall, Krypton Egg really is a good breakout clone, as never before were their enemies on the field while playing, nor were they boss battles every few levels. I recommend this game to everyone who likes Breakout games, and is looking for something different than a traditional breakout game.
So go head and download it, you will be hooked immediately and really want to advance in the game. It is truly a magnificent game.
