Game Review (written by Shalefemorlov) Added on: 04/11/2008
This game is a combination of the old lemmings game where you try to get the lemmings to the door but with a twist like the counsel version of worms. In worms you have a group of worms vying to kill all the other worms. So lemmings at war intermixes the two giving you the classic lemming look with the chaotic fighting of worms. Using the different weapons to annihilate the opponents is of course the high point of lemmings at war.
I admit this is a great game but also seems to be a worms rip off with a lemmings skin.
Although this game I admit is very well played the lack of play without multiplayers make this more of a crowd pleaser and unfortunately I’m a big ronin who likes to play my games solo. It would be nice to see maybe a story mode or tutorial to help use all the weapons and gain a better knack for aim. Maybe institute a fight for each player’s normal lemmings to get through the door as well as the weapon toteing lemming trying to kill the opponent’s civilians. That would give it a less worm feel and a more lemming blend!
I have
Lemmings at WarLemmings at WarLemmings at War
to say though in conclusion even though I am biased as a more single player gamer. Lemming at war still ranks high in my heart I would just prefer to play it with a few friends when I have a lan party. That and I’d love to see a single player angle more expressed. The levels are much more beautiful and decked out than in the worms. The windmill level had me blowing up windmills for a few days. Overall I would rate this game a 4 out of 5!!! More and more gamers are blending with the multiplayer and online angle... if I was one of them or had a friend handy I would easily raise this to a 5.0! So I advise anyone looking at lemming at war to give it a shot and blow a few lemmings to pieces. If that doesn’t make you happy then just remember how annoying a real lemming is! Blow up the obstacles and kill your opponents lemmings at war is definitely a must play game over looked in the gamming community.
PS. I strongly advise you to play lemmings at war with a couple of your friends. You will definitely get a lot more out of it. Especially if you like killing your friends in old school video games. Lemmings at war 4.5 out of 5!
