Game Review (written by Zetty7) Added on: 04/07/2007
I remember when I used to play this game with my dad and he would always try to get me distracted so I would lose and he could have a turn. The game was probably a little boring for him but he enjoyed having me distract him so he would lose.
I have to admit that when I first bought the game I didn’t think I was going to like it as much as I did. I am one of those who tends to judge a book by its cover.
But after playing the game for a couple of minutes I really began to like it. The graphics were some of the best ones I had ever seen up to that point. They were more of an old cartoon movie graphics which made it a little hard. Although the game came out more than a decade ago, and so many other wonderful games have came out since then, Magic Boy will always be one of my favorites. I know many of my friends didn’t enjoy the game because they found it a waste of their time, but I sure didn’t. The reason for my friends not liking it may have to do with the fact that they found it a little childish and

they didn’t think it was for their age group.
The simple, yet detailed pictures are enough to get anyone interested. I was only 7 at the time I bought the game, now I am now 21 years old and I have a son that I am planning to teach how to play this game. But I hope he will be able to appreciate the simplicity and fresh beginnings of really good video games. It took me a pretty long time to reach the last level I was able to go to, (which was only the 15th level,) but I did end up doing it.
The background music was also exceptional and made you feel like you were actually inside the game itself. The cartoon similarity with the music is a little too childish for today’s kids. I also thought that the changes in the music to match what was happening in the game was a little off and could have used a little fixing up.
The levels were also a little hard to get through. I said before I only ended reaching the 15th level. I find it really hard to believe that anyone reached the final level. Maybe if I were to play it now I would be able to reach a higher level. Although I probably wouldn’t enjoy it as much, I would have fun trying. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoys simple, yet fun video games.

What a brilliant game. I remember being completely addicted as a kid. The premise of the game is that a kid ("Hewie"?) is in his uncle's basement killing trapped monsters with magic. There are four "worlds": Sand Land, Wet World, Plastic Place, and Future Zone, and each world has eight levels. Once you've completed all eight levels in each of the four worlds, you proceed to work your way through "Sand Land 2," "Wet World 2," etc. It's endless hours of enjoyment because each level is unique and the monsters (and their actions/weapons) are all so creative.

This game is fun. Good to play any time of the day. Graphics are really pretty much alright and what you'd expect from a game like this. Good levels of difficulty, but not too hard for my little brother.
