Game Review (written by Saltyshoes666) Added on: 09/04/2006
One of my favorite games in history. Mortal Kombat goes down in history as one of the first games to be as gory as it was and still fresh. The game itself starting as one of the few choices of characters (personally dislike most especially subzero!) and entering a tournament between life and death. Now as you can tell Mortal Kombat is fictional which makes it all the more better because you can push the boundaries of real to the unreal.
Being able to unleash devastating combos and bloody endings (fatalities) is what really makes me appreciate this game as I think the starter of violent games.
Characters also have individual attacks like Subzero and his freeze attacks and Scorpion with his famous "get over here" attack. If I may go in depth of the game itself, it has also many more games that have came out from Mortal Kombat 2 to Mortal Kombat Deception. Each game adding new attack, characters, levels, weapons, fatalities and many more. Mortal Kombat Gold even opened up the ability to move more freely about. No longer having to step only away and towards, now you can move up, down, left, right and anything else you can think of.
Now the newest games have new modes like story mode, chess mode and a mode in where you select your guy and play a Tetris type of game.

The winner of course lives and the loser suffers a painful death. Sounds fun to me. Anyway, Mortal Kombat being such a controversial game makes it even more the better.
People such as parents accuse games such as this as the reason for all the violence in the world. But I think that is total crap because this is still a fictitious game. None of this could ever possibly happen. Not one creature on this earth has shards coming out of his wrists.
Now that I'm done saying my perspective on this story, people should just give this game a try, and if they like it perhaps even move up to the newer Mortal Kombats. With that said, I can still give this game a rating. And whoever thinks that violent, fictitious, blood squirting, pummeling, adrenaline pumping type games are dumb, should really try to join a Mortal Kombat of there own. (That was my own personal opinion so take that as you will.) As I said before, this is one of my favorite games in history, and definitely a window into the gaming world.

After Street Fighter 2 this game has to be the next best thing back in the day. It had everything, blood, gore, death, and that classic "FINISH HIM!" A must have for hard core gamers that love to master combos and finishing moves.

I hope it's a good game. I love a lot of rumours about this game. If this game will be interesting, I will try to be champion and unlock all of the characters.

One of the best games I've ever seen! I had it for SEGA MD and it was awesome! That's one of the best games of all time!

AMAZING GAMING! Such playability and fast fun action (and lots of blood!). In my opinon this is the best with the addition of fatalities, as well as friendships (secret codes to really humiliate your opponent) FANTASTIC!

Mortal Kombat was the best game out in the 90's. Thats all I ever wanted to play off work. Come home and finish all my friends off with the various fatalities from each character. Mortal Kombat is the BEST!

Saintsridhar (08/25/2008)
It is my favorite game with fatalities. Characters and powers of character are marvellous and also the power and the way each player looks is unique and different.

Long ago when I was in Primary School, I played Mortal Kombat very often. I liked it very much even I don't know how to do fatalities (at least I can do uppercut). Very good game!

Had a copy of this game on Sega Mega Drive. It was not quite as awesome of fx as the arcade machine, but a goodie, with a bit of blood on the side. FINISH HIM.

Mortal Kombat lifts up my barbaric reason to be brutal at all! It's a great game! IMMORTAL!

Worth checking out. The graphics aren't the best but the characters are great. Each character has a special power. Sub-zero is my fav. . . he can shoot out an ice beam which freezes the other player. I'd give it a 7/10.

This game was so cool when it came out in early 90's. At first it is a hard game to get use to, with all the fighting moves and all, but after a few times playing it, it becomes like second nature.

The best. The graphics are really old but that takes nothing away from the game

Scededdie (11/03/2007)
This is quite possibly the greatest game ever! I loved playing this as a kid, and I guess I forgot to grow up.

Bulldog (10/27/2007)
I used to play this game a long time ago. It is a good game, it is challenging but yet you can get good and win after study and there are lots of trick moves to learn that is one of the best things about it
