The first Ninja Gaiden was a critically-acclaimed game so the sequel was a much anticipated one. The Dark sword, the sequel did not disappoint. Now a classic, Ninja Gaiden 2 proved to be a superb sequel.
Aside from the improvements in graphics and sounds, Ninja Gainden 2 features a much improved game play with additional power ups and a tight plot. The cutscenes are more interesting and there are better graphics per level, more challenging enemies and new weapons. The sequel also features more colorful graphics.
The control is pretty easy to learn and manage so it definitely makes the game a true classic. It definitely feels more seamless and smooth.
An evil wizard named Ashtar has kidnap Ryu Hayabusa’s girlfriend Irene Lew. After Ryu catches up with Ashtar, the wizard stabs Irene. With Irene’s blood on Ashtar’s sword, he can now open the gates to the Realm of Chaos. Ryu is able to defeat Ashtar but he sends the sword to the Realm of Chaos. It will be up to you as Ryu to prevent the demons from the realm of chaos from escaping. To accomplish this he must defeat Jaquiao, the evil within the Realm who plans to continue on with Ashtar’s cause.
Being a ninja, your character is capable
of executing different attacks with the use of different weapons. One of the most notable improvements in the game is the addition of the ability to climb walls which definitely adds more fun to the game. In the sequel Ryu is also capable of splitting or cloning himself. Up to two clones can be used at a time. The game is a difficult but it’s definitely exciting. It’s a well-thought out game with the different elements coming together perfectly. The graphics and sounds create an amazing experience for the gamer. It’s the kind of game that provides enough challenges so you don’t ever feel like you’re ever completely done with it when you finish the game. It’s the kind of game that you won’t delete from your hard drive simply because you know that when you get back to it a few years from now it will still provide you with a great challenge.
I think the only downside to this game is it doesn’t have any save feature so I got a little frustrated the first time I played it because I wasn’t able to finish it in one go and I couldn’t save whatever progress I had made. Still despite this single disappointment in the game, it is actually a more satisfying version. The original version was definitely harder than this one.
I definitely recommend this game and give it two thumbs up. Don’t even hesitate downloading this game, just do it now. It is definitely one of the best ninja games released in the 90s.
