You will be playing the role of Hugo and your goal is to free your girlfriend who is being kept against her will in the house of Dr. Hamerstein. If you don’t free her, Dr. Hammerstein will use Penelope for different horrendous experiments.

Dr. Hamerstein’s house is a haunted mansion with an underground prison and laboratories and you have to go through the different levels, in the different parts of the house and try to save your girlfriend.
The house has enemies and evils that you have to overcome
The game has a good 3D graphics that is similar to the textures of the graphics that was used in the game Wolfenstein 3D. But when it comes to the game play the two games have major differences. Wolfesntein is much more focused on the action while Nitemare 3D has more puzzles and is slower in terms of the pace.
What makes this game super exciting is how there are plenty of secret panels in the different levels in the game. Some secret levels are essential for the completion of the game while other secret panels are just for earning bonus points. There are magic eyes that allow you to see a mini-map that will give you clues on the location of the magic panels. There is also a crystal ball that will show you where the enemies are.
Hugo has three different weapons that he can use in the game. These weapons are the plasma gun, the magic wand, a pistol that uses silver bullets and an auto-repeat/ rapid fire plasma gun. The four different weapons can be used for different uses. There are weapons that are effective for some enemies that won’t work on others so you also need to think about what weapon you should use every time you are faced with an enemy. At the end of the game, after going through thirty levels and facing countless enemies, you will come face to face with Dr. Hammerstein himself.
The game is super fun and is a very well-made game. It’s a good mix of puzzle and action game and will really keep you occupied for a very long time.
