This version of One Must Fall Beta (or otherwise known as One Must Fall Battlegrounds), is significantly different from its predecessor, One Must Fall 2097, because of its playing style. The previous version "One Must Fall 2097" plays like your classic Mortal Kombat, or Street Fighter.
One Must Fall Beta plays like the Twisted Metal series. A good way to describe this is "Zone of the Enders" meets "Twisted Metal Black". Even though I expected the classic fighting engine, the 3D combat arena was nice. It's really nice when the multiplayer feature was added and can be played online.

One feature that was especially fun was the 8-on-8 "football" mode. The only real way to win this is to have a shield of blockers just like a kickoff in football, and have a robot, such as Katana who can dodge almost everything. Including the giant fireball that most players that I have played against like. Mostly because it looks like someone threw the sun at you so that they can knock you down.
Because there are many different combinations when you choose the pilot and the robot, you can either enhance your robot's skill with the pilots, or you can make up for their shortcomings. You can get a slow robot an agility boost, or you can make your powerful robot into

a beast.
There are a few things I do not like about the new system. For one, you can't strafe. If someone gets at your 6, they can basically wail on and the only thing you can do is hit the evade button. However, this can be an advantage, because your goal can be to go behind someone, so that you can beat the crap out of them. It forces players to be able to attack and defend.
The graphics and rendering were not as good as I thought they were going to be at the time, however, because the gameplay was so fast, nobody really cares. Although most of the maps were well done, there were a few maps that I thought were ugly and distracting. (Example the one with the green floor). However, with everyone beating the crap out of each other, this is also soon forgotten.
This game was so fun on multiplayer mode, I failed a couple of tests so that I could whoop on some of my so-called friends. Even though this game is fun on the single player mode, it is much more fun multiplayer.
