Game Review (written by Jzmack) Added on: 09/28/2006
In this old school classic, you play as the paper boy who throws papers to the mail boxes as well as at goblins, crows, people, and dogs. The object is to not fall over and to keep giving papers to your subscribers. My biggest beef with the game is that for some reason I can't get sounds out of the game. That and the decimal point and enter are the keys to throw the paper in each direction. This is a very simple game that was available in the NES and C-64 formats but is operational on the DOS format.

To steer you have to push the left arrow for left and the right arrow to steer right. To accelerate you have to

push the up arrow, which is very helpful when you are jumping the dirt ramps and log ramps. To decelerate just push on the down arrow, helpful for avoiding obstacles. With each day the task of making it through the level is much harder and harder, with new obstacles each day and more of them.
Obstacles to watch out for:
Dog at house - when approaching a black house, a dog will break its chain chasing you, throw a paper at it.
Hand from sewer - this hand will reach out at you and try to knock you.
Man rolling tires at you - easily able to hit the guy and the tire to stop them.
Guys moving couch - it is rough to avoid them but you might have to stop to get them to move back into the road.
Cars in the road - sometimes they are unavoidable, each time you get done with the first half of the level bear right to avoid the vehicle, at the end of the second half bear left and hit the brakes.
Bullets from cannon - try to hit the ramps in the road at a fast speed to jump over the bullets.
Baby stroller - goes right down the side walk.
Fire spitting ghouls - at one of the black houses, where the crow is at, throw papers at them to avoid getting hit with fire.
Crow on tombstone - will attack you when you jump the ramp right ahead of it.
Zombie crossing the yard - hit it with a paper or avoid.
At the end of each level is a bonus level, you have 40 seconds to finish this level while throwing papers at the targets and avoiding obstacles. You can earn a ton of points in this level provided that you finish.
Overall this is a classic game that was incredible for its time. I'd rate it 4 out of 5 stars.

Based on the arcade game, the object of Paperboy is to deliver papers to your customers while inflicting as much damage as possible to the houses of your non-customers. To make things more difficult, numerous obstacles get in your way including construction workers, rogue tires, skateboarders, dogs and cats, cars, and even the occasional tornado.
