Game Review 1 (written by Chrissi) Added on: 11/23/2007
Powerslave is a great first person shooter game. You will be playing the character of an operations specialist who has been ferried over to the Egyptian city of Karnak. You will be finding out whom or what has sealed off the town from the world. You have little information that you heard from a villager who somehow managed to escape. Before he died, he had said someone had invaded the city. Whatever invaded the city had stolen the mummy of the Pharoah Ramses, and was trying to bring him back to life.

The game is a 3D shoot-'em-up kind of game. Powerslave has a few nice twists. Some areas in the game are not accessible until you push a few objects around, either revealing new doorways

or finding a stepping-stone to jump over a wall. There are several places throughout the game when you have to have some accurate jumps.
The weapons in the game are real-world weapons such as an M-60 machine gun, hand grenades, and a flamethrower. There are also a lot of magical items that can do things like making you invincible to replenishing your life meter. These magical items add more excitement to game lay because you have to decide what to use and when to use it. You will have to collect enough "magical essence" to be able to use powerful spells. There is a training mode which allows to you figure out the interface of the game and learn the various commands without having to worry about any enemies coming around and killing you. Powerslave has puzzles throughout the game are quite simple and basic puzzles, like how I get from point to point. This is a great addition to the game to make it a little more different than the other first person shooter games.
Powerslave can be a bit difficult when you are first starting off. Once you take advantage of the training mode though you will find it a lot less difficult. It is best to learn all the commands before you head right into the game or you will find yourself having to learn too much while trying to survive, getting quite frustrating. The graphics that are in place with this game are well done like most of the first person shooter games. You will find a far amount of detail placed into the scenery giving it that extra detail for the game.
Powerslave is a great first person shooter game. If you’ve never liked these kinds of games before you found them too complicated this game would be great for you. With the ability to learn how to play it before you are actually playing, you will love it. Powerslave is an amazing game for all skill levels. Definitely recommend this game for any player who wants to try something new while attempting something old.

Game Review 2 (written by Fadeing) Added on: 05/29/2007
It has been a long time since I played exhumed on the ps1 but I do remember it well due to two reasons. A) I don't like first person shooters as a rule. So it was a rare thing that I even ejoyed this one let alone played it as much as I did. B) I am attracted to all things pseudo - Egyptian so this of course was my first attraction to the game.
So pushing passed the under stated title screen I found my character in a stone work surrounds interesting enough to spend a few minutes just taking in the view. Being from the C64 era I find most game graphics worth the time to geez at, even if its just out of respect for the programmers. Any way, the faceless character smoothly moves through the stone work, using the simple to use direction key pad controls ( at lest I had a game controller). We find ourselves cruising up and down stairs in and out of the sun to be confronted by predictable scorpions, which are easy to dispatch and then the much more rewarding on sort of jackal headed humanoids/ Egyptian messenger god off the under world (Nubis) like creatures, which can be repeatedly dispatched with great satisfaction by generous rounds of pistols or machine gun fire. Much fun!
Exhumed is a nice one, play it!

Really cool game and I still haven't found all the action figures so at 37 it's time to put this to the end.
