Game Review (written by Brew4171) Added on: 09/24/2006
This is a game that is very enjoyable and yet still a challenge to this day. The first time I played Rampart I was about 12 and I remembered it being as fun as it is still today. I like the challenge and how everything is set up, it even offers multi-player action! It's a strategy based Tetris-like game that when you play you will be addicted to it. Trying to play the computer is my favorite way to play but you may find the multi-player to be more enjoyable for you.

Trying to play the computer is my favorite way to play but you may find the multi-player to be more enjoyable for you. In my opinion this is definitely one of my favorite classics.
First you pick a "Master Castle" to base your attacks from but you must maintain a wall around it for each round in

order to keep Cannons placed within the walls. The goal is to, between rounds, repair your Master Castle's walls and build another around the other castles before the time runs out in order to receive even more cannons to destroy the targets which are mostly "pirate" ships with firing cannons.
Second you place your cannons within the enclosed walls around your castle(s) in strategy to maintain a reasonable defense/offense.
Third you must attack the pirate ships that are attacking you and destroy as many of them as you can before time runs out or the remaining ships will be there for the next round.
Fourth you must use a Tetris like simulation for wall repairs and enclose a space around your castle(s) so that you can place cannons inside your wall for the next round.
Later in the game it gets more difficult due to "bunkers" which will unleash Land-based tanks to destroy your castles while being distracted by the pirate ships if you place a Tetris-shaped wall piece on top of one.
All in all it is a great challenge if you like strategy arcade-type games and it provides entertainment for hours on end if you are like me. The graphics are a bit out dated but if you come from my "era" then you should be pretty used to graphics like that. The sound could use a bit of enhancement but that's just my opinion but the gameplay and experience of it all makes up for whatever graphics, sound, or performance lacks there are in the game. One more thing, if you want this game, which I fully recommend, I would recommend a partner to try out the multi-player action that you can get from this game because you may definitely like it more than just playing the computer, which can sometimes get annoying if you know how computer players are. I give this game 7 out of 10 for the classic enjoy ability of the game!
