I remember playing this game back when I was about 10 years old. It's pretty much just Space Invaders, you have a little ship that shoots that other little ships, sometime they drop little things for your. You also have shield type things that can protect you from fire, but you can't fire through them either. The enemies also go faster for each one you kill, to the point where the last guy is zipping along at high speeds.
The levels go on and on and on. Since it is an arcade game, the whole goal is to rack up as many points as possible, and don't be surprised if sessions can last for hours, just to get that new high score. And believe me, if you end up liking the game, it is very easy to keep playing for a long time, the addiction is akin to any sims or mmorpg game out there, sometimes you just have to keep playing to get to that next level.
If I remember correctly every few levels there’s like a mother ship boss you have to fight. This was a big deal back when I played the original Space Invaders so many years ago,
because it was pretty much the first boss fight in a game ever. Even with it's simple graphics, the game is very action packed and will definitely provide plenty of entertainment for anyone willing to give it try. The only drawbacks to the game is that it can get very repetitive, the laser you shoot doesn't change at all, the enemy lasers don't change much, and enemy formations can only be new for so long. The hit detection is a bit off, so don't be surprised if you get killed by a laser that clearly missed you, it's all part of the game.
Anyways Space Strike is an excellent game, it may not be very innovative but it gets the job done. It has simple game play, simple graphics, very addicting. If you like shooting at different color pixels, it really doesn't get much better than this. The only thing I can recommend is seeing if any arcade places near you carry the original Space Invaders, as playing that game on an old fashioned arcade system is immensely for satisfying than playing this on a computer. Still, this game is worth it to try out, you won't regret it.
