Street Fighter is the name of the game that I am reviewing today. It is a classic old game with a few qualities that does not match up with all of the next generation games has, yet it has a few qualities that would take someone away from annoying camera and button controls. It's a game that was made in the late 80's by Takashi Nishiyama, who gave many gamers a taste of what would be one of the most well known video games out there.
The game tells of a warrior named Ryu who battles many other warriors in a tournament to prove who’s the strongest out of them. With this, you’re given a choice of destination such as Japan, England or China. In these places, you must fight the best warrior out of these destinations. After this is done, you can advance to another country. However, you must first pass a secret stage known as a "bonus round" that tests the player's timing and concentration. These bonuses will change depending on your current destination. One of these bonuses would be to break wooden boards that are held by multiple people that are around the area.
The second bonus would be to break a layer of concrete with proper timing and concentration.
During this tournament, you'll experience many characters such as Lee, and Zagat to fight against. Though they are not playable, they do provide somewhat of a challenge during some of the matches that are brought about. Once you beat the bonuses and Zagat (Final Boss), you'll be rewarded with a high score and bragging rights for getting so far. This can become boring after awhile as Ryu is the only playable character for one player mode.
It would be possible to play as Ken in 2P mode once you at least have some understanding of the game. Overall, Street Fighter is a classic, old-school game with very simple controls and storyline that you can probably beat in at least 10 minutes. It's not the longest game, or the game with the most interactivity, but it does provide some away-time from all of the other glitches and errors that are in most of the modern, next generation games that have arisen to the top of the gaming industry.
With a few special moves to discover, and bonuses to complete, and game like this would be perfect for someone who likes things plain and simple for a nice change!
