Game Review 1 (written by Tbones08) Added on: 10/21/2006
I, myself, being an avid Street Fighter fan in my own right, would have to say that this game, Street Fighter 2, is the best game of the Street Fighter series that I’ve ever played. It is so much better than its predecessor, Street Fighter, in just about every way shape and form. From the sound, to the graphics, to the characters, and right down to the characters moves, this game has been totally revamped. I must say that this game please and satisfies my, what seems to be insatiable, appetite for Street Fighter, and fighting in general, games.

The graphics are about ten times better than the first game, with a more realistic look and feel to them. The sound is also better, by about 20 times. It has been digitally remade, if you will. Plus the characters got a digital makeover too. Now they look better, especially Chun-Li, the female fighter, baby got it going on! But anyway, all the fighters look brand new, in fact some of them are brand new, however, you will have to play the game to find out which ones are and aren’t new. Along with the new characters are new moves. Don’t worry, the old, pre-made moves are still there, but they have also been tweaked. The new moves go well far better with

the characters, though. Each character has his or her own strengths and weaknesses, and it is up to you, the player, to discover them and use them to your advantage. When you do that, then the game will be much easier for you and you will have smooth sailing in playing. There is also a new, advanced, more challenging story mode.
In this game, each match has three rounds in it. The winner of the match will be the victor of two of those three rounds. After defeating one opponent in a match, you will travel to another part of the world (there is a map showing all the destinations and fighting locations) to face another opponent. In my opinion, this game is great. It is a game that I recommend everyone to play. It runs along the lines, and is comparable, to that of the Mortal Kombat fighting series. Although not at Mortal Kombat’s level yet, Street Fighter 2 is definitely climbing that ladder and is on its way there to reach the top pedestal of the genre that is fighting games.

Game Review 2 (written by Mogirl69) Added on: 10/11/2006
Given the overall need to relive the old fighting games, I'd say this is a good place to start. Of course, if you're a die-hard you'll watch the movie as well. But yeah, SF2 isn't as good as Mortal Kombat 2 but it's entertaining. You can in various locations as a bulky man or a sexy chick with very little clothing who has comparable strength. My guess is most of these fights take place in some market place... I forget what the loose story line is holding this game together. Something about fighting for honor or maybe some tasty item at the market place... maybe you're just trying to fight your way up from the streets so you can attend dance school or something. You can beat each other up and then advance to higher levels to beat more people up until you get to the boss and then kill him and then you when. I don't remember any of the combos so I never win... I remember Liu Kang's fire blast was forward A... and that move seems to translate to pretty much every game out there.
Personally, I like fighting as one of the chicks because they're more fun to watch die. They usually scream and then fall in slow motion. Also, you can get a glimpse of their sweet pixilated skin... so sweet. The men are all pretty much the same... and I forget who is evil and who is good. Maybe they're all evil... they must have some sort of emotional problems if they're fighting in the streets all day. They should come out with a sequel called Street Fighter group therapy where all the Street Fighters gather around and talk about their anger management problems and why they have a need to be so aggressive and emotionally stunted. I'm willing to bet they were all beaten as Street Children... hey that would be a good game idea. Then you could earn extra points by beating up the fatter Street Children and using their money to go to the arcade to play Street Fighter 2!

A truly timeless classic that can be played time and time again. I still put in a quarter if I see this game around. To me this will always be the best fighting game ever that started it all. Even now with the newest release of street fighter they still keep the old formula that makes this game and its series fun to play over and over again.
