This is an excellent game that everyone should play at least once in their lives. You are the world renowned plumber of koomba stompin' koopa crushing yore. In this game Mario has a few new gameplay additions that greatly improve this franchise's already classic control setup. In this addition you obtain the ability to fly as well as don a frog suit for underwater levels. The basic premise of this game remains ever the same; the princess has once again been kidnapped by the nefarious Koopa and it is Mario's job to save her yet again.

Mario retains a timeless, classic quality. This game is an excellent port of the classic franchise that brings all the fun of the console version to your pc. If you have ever wanted to play Mario on your computer this is the one to get.
The game itself is a ingeniously produced peace of gaming art, from the colorful and inventive underwater locales to a puzzle-like Koopa's castle. The level design is assuredly the same as the rest of the Mario games but with a more varied, colorful feel that really allows this franchise to shine for the first time. Now I know what your thinking,"what about the action", well, firstly I would say that this is one of, if not, the best platformer game ever. Yes, I know this is a very bold statement but the facts are this: there has never been a platform game that was so perfectly flawless in graphics and gameplay execution than this game was and still is. The controls are as simple as ever and the response is incredibly fast even using your computer's keyboard doesn't take you more than a time or two to get comfortable with this game. This game also sees the first appearance of Yoshi, Mario's koopa-eating, green, dinosaur friend. Yoshi's addition make for a more diverse feel from the other titles in this series. First thing that you will notice is that you can ride Yoshi and that when an enemy strikes you only Yoshi will be effected (he will begin to run around erratically until you mount him again). There are also points in the game where you can feed Yoshi's "cousins" which will grow into different colored versions of Yoshi with new abilities such as flying and super-stomping.
All in all I would have to say if you want a game that is simple in execution and passionate in its delivery then get this game, I can assure you that you will not be disappointed.
