Super Mario used to be one of my favourite games growing up. I remember getting a super Nintendo for Christmas one year. My brother and I would play that game everyday all day during vacation to try and beat that game.
One of my favourite parts was discovering the different yoshis’ to try and beat each level. There was the flying yoshi which was a big help for finding keys and other ways to score points high in the sky. I loved how there were so many hidden places you could discover and shortcuts to get across the island.
I would always play the beginning game to see how many men I could get so that when I got to a difficult part I would have enough lives to continue playing.
This game was one of those games where you would sometimes have to come up with different strategies for beating each level. Compared to the very first Mario game that came out I would say this was my favourite because there were more graphics. Don’t get me wrong the first one is still a classic. But I loved the music. You also had the option of taking turns between Mario and Luigi. I think the different castles were interesting although it got harder towards the
end but it was a long game that kept you busy all day. Wow it has been so long since I played, but I loved the little enchanted forest part of the game that had quite a lot of hidden things.
And if I can remember there was a shortcut tunnel you take to get to different parts of game. The map was really helpful whenever you needed to go to the beginning part of the game to regain some more lives. But this is a game no matter how old you get you will always enjoy playing it. There are so many new games out now; I will say this will always be a classic in my book. The haunted houses were fun also, that is something they didn’t have in the first game. It got me at first because you had to run and duck from all the ghosts flying around and a lot of the time there were a lot before you get out the door. I had to be careful about the underwater scenes too because the fish always would catch me but you had swim real fast and lead them away to get to the keys at the bottom of the water.
There were just so many things you could do with this game. I absolutely loved it! I still have this game and will keep it for when my kids are old enough to play it.
