Tintin in Tibet, based in one of the Herge's masterpiece, is graphically a very accurate transcription of the comic books for the computer screen. It is very a beautiful game, with original settings and landscapes, all in the style of the European comic book artist: the gameplay occurs in an orthogonal angle (as if it happened sideways in a corridor, just like the old arcade kung-fu games) what gives the same feeling of the action on the pages of the Tintin comics. The additional characters, interactive or merely decorative, also helps to make you feel like immersed on the comic book.
Although based on a mystery and adventure story where the young detective has to find his good friend Chang, survival of a plane crash on the Himalaya, Tintin in Tibet It is an action game. And its obstacles consists in jumping on crates, swimming on a river, steering away from a waiter's tray, and much more different kinds of actions to perform, but all of them based on simple concepts.
I definitely could feel that this was supposed to be an easy game to play, as it begins with very basic tasks and it doesn't require many controls (you will need to use just the direction arrows and two keyboard keys). However it took me quite a long time to perform the more
basic movements, as jumping on a platform without falling in a cliff (which would put you back in the very beginning of the level). I could guess this was because I was using a laptop keyboard to play, and I am sure that wouldn't be that difficult using a proper joystick.
However the charming details, like the punctuated dialogues you will have with other characters encountered along the way (which will lead you where you will need to go), the alternation of planes (sometimes you are on the foreground, sometimes in the background), and even the lettering, in balloons lettered in the Belgium comic book style, is what differs this title from the other action games that works in the similar way.
So to say that in my opinion, this game can be really enjoyable after getting used with the controls, but specially if you are a Tintin fan, as the best thing about it is the possibility of impersonating the character and interacting with it as if you were in one of his albums.
