8088 Othello is a spectacular game. Othello in general is a great game, but this allows people to play without having to set up a board, have a chance to lose pieces, or convince anyone else that is a great game. 8088 Othello takes a cue from chess, in the fact that it uses a number/letter grid for inputting moves. This may seem arduous, but it forces the player to analyze the field more. This added focus my even lead to better playing!
The game has multiple difficulty levels to choose from.

The game has multiple difficulty levels to choose from. I personally thought I wasn't a very good player, but after playing for a little while, I found that the grid really did unlock a bit of stored up talent that

I wasn't aware of. I think that this version may not be the best Othello available, but its system will help any player "up" their game. Most gamers may look for high level graphics to be able to distinguish events. Others find that sounds are key for a great game. And yet others find that a complex set of available actions may lead to a great game. 8088 Othello is addicting for none of these reasons.
The graphics are not very high, but don't need to be. Sounds are unavailable, but by no means necessary for anything. The only actions needed are a letter and a number, without need for speed and thus not needing simple nor complex sets of controls.
Othello is just a simple game to start, yet its addiction level is high. It may be easy to start playing, but it makes up for ease with its endless possible outcomes. Othello is simply a classic game. It has simple controls, simple graphics (8088 Othello) and easy to follow concept. There is little guessing in this version if you are winning or not, the computer keeps track after each move. This is found on the far left, just under the last move log which is under the current move input.
There is no "undo" to change movements, which is probably a plus because it forces a player to consider all movements before making any. There is a downside to this, the computer does not let you know when you make an illegal move. The computer simply ignores what you entered but does not give any signal to why it did so. When the player has no legal moves, the computer does not make any alerts that you must pass either.

This is such a great game! The concept is easy enough for children, yet still challenging enough for adults. The computer version is easier and faster to play than the original board game and it is a plus that you can play against the computer.
