This application features two modes: Junior and Master. Obviously, the Junior mode is more simplistic and features less complex cartoons than the Master mode. The Junior mode serves as a great tutorial for older users, and sits at the perfect level for young, budding cartoonists.
The making of a cartoon using this application will
follow a few simple steps. First, the user will set the stage by rolling the cursor over the stages menu. The user has a choice of several classic Warner Brothers looking settings, and can flip through the entire menu to select his favourite. Each setting is shown with a picture icon, and a name, such as ROCKS, to tell the user what the scene is like. After selecting a scene, the user will have a choice of how many frames he would like to use in his cartoon. This is accessed through the Film Slider menu. By pulling the slider to the right or left inside this menu option, the user can lengthen or shorten the cartoon’s frames. The Film Slider can also be accessed at any time to view the various frames in the cartoon that have been created.
Probably the most fun part of using the Bugs Bunny Cartoon Workshop application is choosing the actors for the homemade cartoon. Just because the game is titled after Bugs Bunny, does not mean that this is the only available option. All of the Looney Tune favourites are available for play. Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner; Sylvester and Tweety; Elmer Fudd…the whole gang is here. First the user must select the actor for his cartoon…say Bugs…then he will be given a list of actions. The user can scroll through this list of actions…anything from digging a hole to laying in a beach chair…and select the action for use in his scene. Some of the actions even come complete with sounds.
Once this is done, there are numerous other ways to customize the cartoon. The actors can be positioned within the frame, and more actors can be added at any time. Scenes can be added or deleted, and cartoons can be shortened or lengthened. In short, there is enough to do, and do over again, to keep kids busy for some time. The replay value is high because of all of the different variables, and it is fun to watch kids use their creativity to build a cartoon favourite of their own.
