Dance of the Planet 2.0

Game Review (written by Alonocus) Added on: 10/28/2007
The Sim begins by showing you what looks like a blemish on the screen. Zooming in reveals it is indeed a star. Then you begin to see the hyperactive planets whizzing round in their inconsistent orbits. Unless you are an astronomer, then meet the cure for fun. However, there are people out there who still sell it. One such company is ARC science, whose reason they still sell it is that it is the only real-time animation that takes into account gravity. It also takes into account estimations of events, rather understandably.
This game is for those who want to look at the skies indoors, and those who have Fifty Hours of Spare time.
This Sim is not the best, and not the worst. It's confusing enough to turn away any easy-gamers, and simple enough to lure Astronomers, and Astrologers. The option to view orbit lines and Constellations is a rather nice thought, though they appear as a rather nice three-year old kid afterthought.
There you have it. A sim which absolutely confuses you, tests your limits, your instincts, your patience, and your keyboard. One false step and it goes incredibly wrong, especially with the ability to use numbers replaced with arrow keys, and a Zoom feature that refuses to go to the perfect zoom. However, we must
Dance of the Planet 2.0
understand that the knowledge and limitations of technology and the Solar system at the time were rather primitive compared to today's standards.
