Super Solvers: Outnumbered! is a very educational and fun game. You play the game as a super solver, working towards defeating Morty Mischievous. Morty wants to take over Shady Glen TV station and is currently hiding in one of the rooms of the TV station. To defeat Morty, you must solve various math puzzles, and there is a catch. You must get enough clues to find Morty before midnight. The math puzzles range from simple counting exercises to more difficult algebraic problems. To defeat him, you must enter different rooms throughout the TV station.
In each room, a different math problem will appear, ranging in difficulty. When you enter a room, you can approach maps, monitors, and any other object in the room to get a puzzle to solve. A correct answer will yield a piece of the code that will be used to find Morty. While travelling between rooms there are two different types of enemies that one can encounter. The enemies include Telly the television and a hot electric cord named Live Wire. When encountering Telly, you can zap him. If his belly is lit, he will give you drill questions. If your energy gets low, you have to solve a problem and go to the energy supply room to get more energy. You start the
game with your energy half full. These enemies have the ability to take away your power.
The graphics are equal to that of an adventure game and are both bright and colourful. The action that goes along with solving puzzles correctly and saving the TV station will keep kids’ attention. Also, throughout the game, hints will appear onscreen to help you play the game better.
The game is designed for kids ages 7-10, although some of the problems are rather difficult. If you answer a question wrong, you get another chance and then a hint. Young player should have their parents nearby to help with the more difficult problems. The graphics and interesting story line is exciting enough even for parents though, so they will probably not mind helping. If a child is having a lot of difficulty answering a question, there is a mode in which you can just answer questions without the story to practice your math skills.
If you have played any other game by The Learning Company and liked it, you will greatly enjoy this one. Like the others, there are plenty of different problems and different outcomes, so that you can play this game as many times as you’d like. The adventure and clues will keep you intrigued and make this a fun an education game to help improve math skills.
