Game Review 1 (written by Bufus) Added on: 09/19/2006
Super Solvers: Treasure Mountain by The Learning Company is a fun game that includes education with fun to create a simple adventure game about searching for treasure on a mountain. I recently was looking through some games on this site and i came across Treasure Mountain by the Learning Company. The game sounded familiar so I downloaded it. When I opened it up i was astonished! I had played this game when I was just knee-high.
The game was amazing to me as a child.
It was the favorite at our daycare. The game of course, is a children’s game and it excels at that. The game has the quality that a lot of games now days are missing which is an actual educational aspect. Every once in a while your asked a question that helps you read or helps with a child’s phonetics, games now days lack this quality. It is an educational game that is great for kids.
Treasure Mountain is a fun children’s game that is both educational and fun. The game premise is simple; you are a guy who climbs a mountain looking for treasure. To get to the next level of the mountain, you must trap elves in your net.

When you capture an elf, he gives you a question. The questions are simple (i.e. which of these words ends in the letter D) and if you get it right, they give you a Clue. There are three clues on each level that will help you find the key to the next level. There are also hidden treasures to find on each level and when you find them you can proudly put them on display in you Clubhouse. That’s the only replay value in the game, finding the treasures.
This game took me all of 5 minutes to beat, but took me a very long time to do as a child. The game is a great joy if you have kids that need help reading or if you’re just a weird guy who plays children’s games like me. Its graphics were pretty good for the 90's and the game play is a bit repetitive but kids don’t really notice. The length of the game would be its major downfall. It’s extremely short and actually took me longer to download then it did to play.
All in all I would give this game one thumb up. It has good graphics, fun music, and great play for kids. Its big downfall is the length and replay ability which are both very low. The game is great for kids and so-so for adults. I hope you enjoy Treasure Mountain!

Game Review 2 (written by Lombz) Added on: 08/12/2006
Super-Solvers: Treasure Mountain was an awesome game to play for many, many reasons! First off, it was great to be able to play this game again since I was in elementary school at P.S. 52. This game sets a goal: to fill the treasure chest at the top of the mountain, and win back the crown. You would need to find three hundred treasure items to be successfully crowned a Super-Solver Champion. Treasures are scattered all along the three levels of the mountain. They are hidden behind various trees, bushes, flag poles, signs, and mushrooms. Clue words help you to locate keys and treasures. All you got to do is capture an elf, which carries a scroll, and solve a riddle or question.
Questions involve common sense and easy math equations. It is great for youngsters to learn math, because it is easy and fun. The more treasures you find, the more difficult the game gets as it progresses. For instance, elves will conjure elf dust, and will throw it at you. If you are hit, a coin is stolen from you. Another difficulty is gaps in certain places on the mountain. Be careful when crossing bridges, otherwise you may just fall through the level below you. I find it best to just jump over the wooden bridges to avoid the plunge down below. You can dodge elf dust by also jumping over them too! All you have to do is press and hold right and up, and you will be airborne for a short while.
Gold coins are used to search behind trees, mushrooms, bushes, flowers, and signs. You earn them by capturing an elf and by solving their riddles on the scrolls they carry. Each of the three levels on the mountain is filled with several elves. Three elves on each level carry scrolls. If I were you, I would just concentrate on them. If you were to catch one ordinary elf, you will only get one gold coin. However, if you catch an elf carrying a scroll, you will receive three coins for answering the riddles and a clue word.
The only way to catch the elves is by the use of nets. The game starts you off with ten of them. After you use all of them, you must buy nets for four gold coins. It helps to conserve and watch how many coins you have. Sometimes, if you are really running low on gold coins the game will place some on the ground. When you walk over them you will receive two gold coins. This game can easily keep the player playing for hours upon hours. Why? Because it is just that fun!

I used to play this game when I was a child, it was fun and helpful. And it was addicting. Games now are not like this at all.

I owned this game when I was younger. It was in first place to other people on my server or whatever. It was amazing and I felt like I accomplished goals through this game.

I was in class surfing the web and came across this site and this game! I loved this game when I was in grade 1! I cannot believe I can play it again now. Definitely not as challenging but I guess that's a good thing!

This is an excellent game to motivate science interest. It is an excellent way for students to see "real world" questions and situations that are answered using science in a fun way. It also introduces the idea of conservation and alternative energy.

This game is GREAT ! I remember playing with my younger family members and were talking about it over the holiday week. I'm so glad I was able to locate this game.

I loved this game so much as a little kid. My brothers and I used to play it all the time. I didn't remember the games until we were doing some cleaning in the attic a few months ago and I found the old version (which of course doesn't work on my computer anymore), but I've been looking for them online ever since, and I'm so glad I found at least one!

I haven't played this game in AGES. Obviously it's not quite as challenging as when I was little but still lots of fun.

Awesome game! I remember playing this when I was a kid: even then I loved it so much. I think playing it now, it still has all the great qualities a game should have.

This game was my favorite game when I was younger. Not only is it fun to play, but it also helps children learn math. My favorite part of this game was going in to the cave and seeing the treasures I had received.

God I missed this game. It was my favorite part of going to the computer lab in elementary school for sure.

Graypig (07/25/2008)
Wow! I remember playing this game in school, even though it really doesn't take that much brainpower or teach anything, it is still great! I love catching the elves, that is the best part.

Limeishly (06/29/2008)
I remember playing this game when I was a little kid, it was sooo much fun! I know the low quality graphics may make many of today's kids look the other way, but the game itself really makes up for it (plus I remember it looking awesome at the time it was made).

Konnifer (06/29/2008)
Cute and mindless - great for rediscovering a childhood. I get it confused with the other Learning Company games, but they're all great.

Weatwagon (06/12/2008)
This game is amazing and is perfect for my nephew to kill time. I played this game hours on end can't wait to see if he likes it.

I love Treasure Mountain. I've been looking for it forever and I finally found it.

Greg989898 (03/06/2008)
One of the best games out there for kids. Education can be fun if done well, and this game is very fun. I remember being frustrated by not knowing my multiplication tables to answer questions, so I went about learning them so I could beat the game. I highly recommend.
