Game Review (written by Tsukkomi) Added on: 06/03/2007
Game play basically revolves around aligning fruit which your animal would enjoy. It is addictive and has a tetris feel to it. The animals are cute and knowing which fruit to give them is simple and not as complicated to play as other puzzle games of the time.
The title itself "Baku Baku Animal" translates into "Gobble Gobble Animal" and as you can see from the game play the title reflects the goal. Gobble the fruit using your animal.
There is a single player mode and a 2 player mode and as stated above it is very much so a Tetris style game.
It is a puzzle game where you try to align blocks and animals the blocks featuring the animal's favorite food. When this occurs, the animal eats the food causing the other player to receive more blocks.
Baku Baku animal was segas easy answer to Puyo Puyo, later on that job was taken on by Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine which was a more successful title relying heavily on the popularity of Sonic the hedgehog.
The game Baku Baku Animal relies very heavily on it's cute graphics and despite the addictive game play it does lose out to the titles aimed at the slightly

older age range such as Puyo Puyo and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, simple based on the difficultly factor. The game would not take many people long to master and the rewards for finishing the game are some what disappointing and don't feel much after you have spent so long progressing through the games levels.
