I remember when I was a kid, this was one of the first RTS games I ever played. That was in the late 1990's when I first walked into the local games shop and picked up a copy for $20. For me at the time, it was a fairly expensive purchase, considering I only got $3 a week. But it was so worth it!
I remember playing the first few levels and laughing my head off. Everything from the baldies expressions they had, to the sound and music was simply gorgeous.
Plus, you didn’t even need to have a totally tricked out computer to play them. I mean, at the time, I had just a low level 486. Although in the higher levels where the population was absolutely crazy, it'd have like 1000+ baldies going crazy in the small as level. It was hilarious! It would be fist fight after fist fight.
Also, the in game weaponry is absolutely spectacular! Everything from exploding cows, setting baldies on fire and even driving vehicles around.
At my age back when I first got the game, it lasted me AGES, there was just so many levels. That’s what was so good about the game. Every level was different. Sometimes the computer would be totally ruthless, killing off
a house of defenseless baldies with skill and finesse. But sometimes it would be so stupid. When I was using the car to run over enemy baldies, the comp would just allow all of its baldies to get run over. It wouldn’t care.
Also another feature I thought was quite memorable was the fact you could place your men into trees and do ambush attacks. They would sit there swinging on little rope swings waiting for the time you (the master) would tell them to attack!
That was awesome. Also, for characters that can be as smart as developing bombs, fart bombs, exploding cows and all, how could the developer justify them not being able to swim? That was a bit stupid I thought.
