The idea of Boppin is similar to Columns in a way. As in you have to match blocks that have the same pattern on them. You are in control of one of two characters and you must match all of the blocks on a level before moving on to the next level. When you are playing two-player mode you must race against each other on the same screen to see who can match the most blocks and get the most points.

To make it more challenging if you manage to match more than 3 blocks at the one time in a particular pattern then you will release a prisoner. These prisoners give you a rescue bonus at the end of each round and can
really help you when you need some new lives.
Boppin is one of the more challenging games I have played. It has elements that would appeal to both young children and the more mature adolescent. Lots of colors and good graphics make it a great choice for any parent looking to get their kids quiet for a little while and the game-play is so addictive that the parents themselves will no doubt be playing as much as the kids.
I first played this game in about 1992 before we had a computer that had windows or anything like that. I still have the same computer now and it still only has DOS installed on it as the operating system. I would say that I enjoy the older games more than the newer ones. How can you trade-in game-play for graphics? Ridiculous... I like some of the more gruesome artwork. The way they draw things is so that it is suitable for young ones but amusing for the older gamers also.
The graphics in Boppin are not at all bad. In fact compared to a lot of the games that were coming out at the time that Boppin was released, I think that the graphics were pretty good. The sound is good if you have a sound blaster or compatible card. PC Speaker sound is never really any good and what’s the point of playing a game without sound? I suggest if you do not have a card that DOS games support I would suggest looking on E-Bay for one.
This game is really addictive and challenging and I would highly recommend that everybody give this game a try and I would almost guarantee that you will enjoy it as much as I and my family do.
