Game Review (written by Rick78) Added on: 03/28/2009
This futuristis racing game is quite simply one of my favourite games of all time. Initially bought on my Playstation 1 on release, I instantly fell in love with its graphics, style and soundtrack. The DR (designers republic) input to this game is amazing, and the logos and car designs still look completely timeless and will never grow old. I would also recommend all prior incarnations of this game, especially WIp3OUT - unbelievable game, and I look forward to future releases. Unfortunately not having a PS3 may prove a problem though.

The tracks are all exciting, and the learning curve is excellent from ALtima VII's basic curves to Silverstream's unforgivable hairpins, and the tournament points based mode, really gives you a sense of achievement as you beat your rivals through the grand prix.

The controls are very responsive, with the LR button airbrakes helping you round the corners. Unfortunately Wipeout did seem to stop you dead in your tracks on just clipping the sides, which is very frustrating, but to avoid this, the simple answer is dont hit the sides!!, after many hours you will learn the racing line and nail each corner, with an amazing sense of achievement due to the sheer speed you will take the turns.

The different vehicle makes and models, do all handle differently.

To start I definitely recommend Feisar or AG, as these have the most forgiving handling. Once mastered the tight steering Quirex will help you attain higher speeds, but only if youre good enough! They all have their own visual charateristics, which look suitably cool for the futuristic anti-gravity racing league.

The music fits perfectly, Chemical beats will inspire you to reach speeds necessary to win each race, also Cold storages' electronic musical professionalism will put a big smile on your face as you twist and turn through the valleys and canyons. Other artists include Orbital and Leftfield, all perfect for the style of the game.

Finally, if you have never experienced the Wipeout series, yet are a avid racing game fan - where the heck have you been the last 15 years!!??!! GET IT NOW AND ENJOY!!

Wipeout: 9/10 - amazing 1st iteration of the series, yet the later ones are better!

People that downloaded Wipeout also downloaded the following games:

Wipeout XL - Wipeout 2097 Metal Gear Solid
Re-Volt Press Your Luck
Jazz Jackrabbit 2 All New Family Feud
