Game Review (written by Shannon) Added on: 03/10/2011
One of the most challenging things about the Caverns of Xaskazien is saying the title…or spelling it. Although Caverns of Xaskazien is quite a mouthful, the game itself is actually very familiar for players of Rogue or Rogue-like games and is a nice, turn-based game, filled with huge, bright icons and simplistic tiling. It was originally offered as a shareware title from Jeff Sinasac, but is generally considered abandoned and is usually offered as a free download in modern days.

The game is definitely geared towards adults and features subtle humor and innuendo that is funny regardless of when the game was produced.
There are tons of monsters and treasures to find, and lots and lots of tiles to explore. While it isn’t epic in nature, and can’t compete with bigger games like NetHack, it is still a pleasant diversion, filled with intuitive controls and good overall game play. It is mostly certainly of value as a rare collector’s
