This game is a classic, unfortunately I first played it on a Macintosh but the same level of play was there. This game is a 3rd person role-playing game that is very similar to the DnD games of old, minus the "3D" view. Hours of entertainment were afforded with the collection of items and building of the character, finding new ways to use items was also on the tops of my list. The difficulty increases at the later end of the game when monsters perform different acts, such as dissolving items you have collected, or status disabilities.
I've only yet played the first several levels of the game but I enjoy it every time as the map changes from each game play, as well as what is laying around on the ground.
One downfall of the game is the fight scenes, just moving up to a creature and hitting it with whatever you have in your hand isn't a terribly interesting way to go about a game. Or you can hit the throw or fire buttons, but unless you have an item or something to give you a greater sight range past the fog of war, the creature is already going to be in melee range. I believe there is a way in later levels to get your self a higherling,
which doesn't make it more interesting, probably a little more boring since it will do a lot of the work for you.
One of my favourite points of the game is the ability to eat things. Not because you really need to, but because it is there. After killing a creature it can drop several things, most common is entrails and the ever popular "you see a dead Whatever-This-Was-When-It-Was-Alive", and a lot of the time, it is edible to your character. Sometimes you may get poisoned but that is ok, live and learn. The pills are something interesting as well. You can eat any different colour pill and it will have a vast variety of effects, from bonuses to debilitating effects. One even lets you forget what you have previously eaten on the pills and I believe it randomizes it. Hours of fun are gained from eating things.
All in all it seems like a simple game, with the major downfall being the graphics, very rigid pictures of the characters moving around. The best points would be doing everything your heart desires, something that games generally have a hard time doing these days.
