This is a great game that I used to play as a kid.
The graphics were good for the time-period as well as the gameplay. Obviously it won’t compare to xbox or ps2 but anyone looking for a little nostalgic gameplay should definitely check this out. The game wasn't too long as I remember but it was great fun. Check this out!
I started playing this game in my spare time during an accelerated learning program that I was enrolled in during my grammar school years.
For hours at a time we would play Lands of lore: The throne of Chaos. I know that might sound a little bit weird to some of you but in the accelerated learning program we had one full day of every school week free to do anything we wanted as long as we could justify that it had some educational value. As a kid I learned to beat the system early I would make up a line about being interested in the developmental aspects of video games. When I was stuck in regular gameplay I would say I was researching how to keep the game going without having the gamers get bored early. Then during the boss fights I would simply
Lands of Lore: The Throne of ChaosLands of Lore: The Throne of ChaosLands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos
cut a line about making the game maximum fun without being too hard to play.
This is the song that never ends it goes on and on my friends. And then when they started catching on about me not actually reporting anything back to them about the gameplay I would just say I’ll take that under consider action and then I would tell them that I needed further research before I could make any actual reports on what I had learned.
But looking back on it this game definitely did spark my interest in programming for a visually stimulated audience. Now I am aware of storyline techniques that help us to define what really happens in the real world and keeps people involved with the game long enough to earn the reward that is the final video sequence of an excellent video game. This game sparked a long interest in gaming for me and perhaps if you take these things into consideration while you are playing such wonderful nostalgic games as lords of lore you will also develop an interest in one of the greatest fastest growing fields out there today available as an occupation. This game is fabulous and an excellent reference point for those interested in becoming more adept at video games.

Ha- I remember this game. It was great, but I had to have two boot profiles set up in DOS to play this because Windows 3.11 used too much memory.

Lands of Lore was an amazing game, it kept me glued to the computer when I played it! I think it's the best in the series and would higlhly recommend it to those who enjoy this genre :)

This game was one of my favorites growing up. The storyline and cinematics were fantastic for the time. If im not mistaken i believe Patrick Stewart (aka Piccard from Star Trek NG) was the voice for one of the NPCs. The game was a delight to play and the interface was one of the easiest to learn. Characters were interesting and unlike the other games at the time which was a big attraction. Definitely worth a try.

I have not played this game in about ten years, but when I made a visit with some friends the other night, I was reminded how much fun it was when their son was playing the game. I still remembered many secrets of how to play it. I still remembered the magic, the sorcery, the map, several of the perils, etc. I was addicted all over again. I want to play this game on my upgraded system at home where I can enjoy the benefits of speed. Let's have fun.

Special Instructions (Source: Support Team | Added on: 03/29/2006)
Install notes:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Run SETUP.EXE to setup options such as
sound and graphics, and run LANDS.BAT to start!
! IMPORTANT ! IMPORTANT ! IMPORTANT ! IMPORTANT ! IMPORTANT !
If you want to run the game under Windows 95 (or any Windows really), you
need to copy the file VWWSD.386 to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory, and
you'll need to add three lines to your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.INI under the
[386Enh] section, like this:
...
[386Enh]
device=vwwsd.386 ← These are the new lines
DMABufferSize=064 ←
WWSBufferSize=064 ←
...
Don't forget to reboot Windows BEFORE you attempt to start Lands of Lore!
The game _might_ run without this modification of Windows, but will most
probably crash, and will definately not have speech!
